The Cook Islands first licensed online foreign exchange money changer

The Cook Islands is an autonomous island country located in the South Pacific Ocean. It is in free association with New Zealand and consists of fifteenth separate islands.

The Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) is a local financial regulator which, as of July 2003, replaced the former Off-shore Financial Services Commission. It is worth pointing out that all money changer’s and remittance licenses are issued under the Money-changing and Remittance Business Act 2009.

The money changer’s and remittance license allows a company to conduct money changing business. However, it is highly important for all applicants to be able to comply with the requirement to maintain permanent place of business in and conduct all of the operations from the Cook Islands. Set-up of additional places of business outside of the Cook Islands is not allowed unless an additional approval is grated by the FSC.

Each shareholder, director and / or other competent employee of the applicant should be a fit and proper person to hold that position.
